Argentine Tango Night - March 14th

Tango night at Chalmers – live piano & social dance
19-20 Party Workshop
20-22 Live piano
22-00 DJ set
On March 14th, CSDA invites you to an evening of tango, music and social dancing at Chalmers. During the night you’ll be able to dance to live piano as well as a DJ set, featuring a mix of well-known tangos and hidden gems.
The live set will feature August and Sara performing tango arrangements for two pianos, including classics such as El Choclo, Por una Cabeza (from the famous film scene) and Libertango. You’ll also hear music by Astor Piazzolla, slow waltzes like Shostakovich’s Second Waltz, and famous tangos such as La Cumparsita, Canaro en Paris, A Media Luz and Tango-Jalousie, alongside some lesser-known but beautiful pieces from a large Soviet tango collection.
The evening begins with a party workshop, followed by the live piano set and later a DJ set to keep the dance floor alive.

Bring comfortable dancing clothes and shoes and get ready for an evening of music, dancing, and atmosphere. The event is free and open to everyone, whether you are an experienced dancer or just curious to try.

Ecstatic Dance Workshop - March 15th

On March 15th, CSDA will hold space for freedom and expression of self through movement!
Ecstatic dance is people freely moving to music. It can be a safe place to explore movement and expression. It can be a meditative space. It can also be a place to be childish and have fun.
Here, the dance will go through five layers of rhythms associated with five elements: earth, water, fire, air, and space. Each element has its own tempo, expect a wide variety of songs for you to groove to. A first cycle will be guided verbally followed by a second cycle guided by the music only.
During the dance, the place is talk-free and cellphone-free. You are welcome to mingle after the dance.
Don’t forget:
Water bottle
Comfortable dancing clothes
Indoor shoes or your bare feet to work the floor!
The event is FREE.
We are excited to see you there for a moment to dance and let go.
This event is open for everyone regardless if you’re a student or not.
Cost? FREE

Do you like moving your body and hanging out in a very friendly and welcoming environment? Then this event is for you! You don’t know how to dance? Great! This is a good opportunity to explore. You already love dancing? Amazing! Then we hope to see you there! Cha-cha and rumba are two Latin dances that have similar stepping patterns but different rhythms.
The workshop is beginner friendly and taught in English. You will learn some moves to make you feel comfortable for the social dance directly after!
Cha-cha and Rumba music will guide your feet through the dance floor. Expect a touch of diversity with Waltz and West Coast Swing in the playlist, from our teachers who are fond of those two dances.

EVERY FRIDAY: CHAOS PRACTICE TIME!

Every Friday we meet in Chalmers Union Building, right in front of J.A Pripps. We have an open playlist, which naturally and generally turns a bit chaotic, which is why we lovingly refer to our Fridays as “Chaos Fridays”. We frequently see dances such as Bugg, West Coast Swing, Salsa, Bachata, Lindy Hop, Argentine Tango, and Ballroom dances in our hangouts. Sometimes we have even seen Burlesque dancing and Bollywood dancing – you never know what might show up! Feel free to bring your own dance: we are many that are eager to see and try out new things!

Our Friday’s are an unofficial arrangement by volunteering members of CSDA and completely FREE and open for EVERYONE. WELCOME!

Location: In front of J.A Pripps, Chalmers Union Building
Enter Union Building from Teknologgården 2 (main entrence)

Time: 19:30 – until we get tired
(generally around 1 AM)

If you are unsure if we are still dancing but want to join, send us a message on discord and someone there will try to give you a quick reply.

Every Sunday: Rueda Workshop

New opportunity to max your Salsa dancing!
Welcome to dance Salsa Rueda on Sundays in Chalmers Union Building. We meet every week for the near future, we’ll have introductory course in Salsa, salsa rueda, and finish with some social dance! The event is open for everyone, regardless if you’re a student or not.
What is Rueda? Rueda is a form of salsa where everyone dances in a circle and changes partners constantly. It is a lot of fun and differs a bit from traditional partner dances.
Still Unsure If It’s for You? Then we invite you to come and try it out. And bring as many friends as possible – the more the better! Rueda is a lot of fun with many people. Plus, you don’t need to bring a dance partner. We will be switching constantly.
Who are we? We are just students and friends who enjoy dancing Rueda and are part of CSDA. We started last semester and have been constantly over 30 people each Sunday dancing Salsa Rueda together, many without prior experience.

Location: Chalmers Student Union Building “Kårhuset”

Time:
18:30-20:00 Salsa Rueda

20:00-21:30 Social Dance (salsa/bachata)
