FREE Viennese Waltz Workshop

🕺🏼🕺🏼 CSDA presents our first Viennese Waltz workshop! 💃💃

The Viennese Waltz is a quick paced type of Waltz, which has its roots in the early 19th century in Vienna, Austria. It evolved from the earlier folk dance, the “Ländler,” which was performed in a 3/4 time signature. The dance became more refined and stylish as it gained popularity among the aristocracy, particularly in Vienna’s royal courts. By the 1830s, the Viennese Waltz had transformed into a more structured and elegant ballroom dance, known for its fast-paced spins and sweeping movements. It quickly spread across Europe and became a staple in ballroom dance competitions. Today, it remains one of the most iconic and celebrated dances, known for its grace, speed, and elegance.

This workshop is for anyone curious to give Viennese Waltz a try! You don’t need any prior experience with dancing. We’ll be looking at Viennese Waltz as a social dance, covering fundamentals and some variations so that you can comfortably dance it with anyone at a social!

No partner is required—just bring a positive attitude and a willingness to learn!

Bring a water bottle! Welcome! 💃🕺

Sometimes we’ve even seen Burlesque dancing and Bollywood dancing – you never know what might show up! Feel free to bring your own dance: we are many that are eager to see and try out new things!
