Our Teachers<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The teachers of CSDA are unpaid volunteers from our own community. To put it simple: Students, alumni and other members of our community who offer their time and expertise in the area of dance for the benefit of our dancing community. Expect a wonderful down to earth, non professional setting at our classes and gatherings. After all, we are not dance teachers, we are academics, who love to dance.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Bachata is the innovation of the Bolero, as it combines rhythms like Merengue, Son, and Cha Cha Ch\u00e1.<\/em>
The word \u201cBachata\u201d means party, and it is a traditional folk rhythm from the neighborhoods of the Dominican Republic. It originated as a rhythm for social gatherings in the streets and neighborhoods of this country.”
<\/em>Out of the 4 Bachata styles, the one we teach is Bachata Sensual, which uses many body movements and closed positions.<\/em><\/p>\n

The beginner course is aimed towards you who have never danced Bachata before. Or perhaps you have never danced at all before. It gives you an basic understanding of the dance, including rhythm and music, basic steps and easy figures. By the end of the first lesson you’ll be able to show off some moves at CSDA’s social hangouts, and by the end of the course you’ll be comfortable enough with the dance to go out and join the social dances out and about around the world.<\/p>\n

This is the time to practice the move you learn during the class and maybe improvise something new. The social dance is open for any CSDA member and we highly encourage our students to join it as part of the course. The beginner course is designed for those who have never danced West Coast Swing before\u2014or perhaps have never danced at all. It provides a solid foundation in the dance, covering rhythm and music, basic steps, and simple patterns. By the end of the first lesson, you\u2019ll be able to show off the basic steps at CSDA\u2019s social hangouts. By the end of the course, you\u2019ll feel confident enough to join West Coast Swing social dances wherever they take place in Sweden.<\/p>\n

The exploration course is where you will start to dive deeper into complex patterns and explore unique ideas giving contrast to your dance. We require that you have taken our continuation course and feel confident with its contents, or that you are a more experienced dancer who has taken other courses elsewhere. It is also recommended that you know the 5 basic patterns in your secondary role.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Cuban Salsa or Salsa Cubana is the name used to describe the dances of \u201ccasino\u201d and \u201crueda de casino\u201d.
Salsa cubana is a rotational dance. The dancers walk in a circle while doing rotational turn patterns, often tying partner\u2019s arms up into knots that must be then untied. Salsa is always about having fun! It doesn\u2019t matter if you forget a move or mess up, just laugh it off and keep going! The focus of salsa cubana is to be social, with lots of yelling, laughing, and plenty of gyrating hips.”<\/em><\/p>\n

The continuation course is aimed towards you who have some basic knowledge of dancing Salsa. You can have taken the beginner salsa course and feel like you want to learn more, or have learnt the basic steps somewhere else but feel like this is the time to continue learning more about the dance. At the end of the course you’ll definitely be comfortable enough with the dance to go out and join the social dances out and about around the world.<\/p>\n

The beginner course is aimed towards you who have never danced Salsa before. Or perhaps you have never danced at all before. It gives you an basic understanding of the dance, including rhythm and music, basic steps and easy figures. “Kizomba is a smooth and elegant partner dance that originated in Angola. The word Kizomba comes from Kimbundu, one of Angola\u2019s major languages, and means \u201cparty\u201d or \u201cgathering.\u201d The dance developed from Angolan Semba, combined with influences from Caribbean Zouk music that reached Angola through cultural exchange and travel.
We teach Urban Kiz<\/strong>, a modern evolution of Kizomba that combines the close connection and smooth movements of Kizomba with influences from urban and contemporary dance styles. The beginner course is designed for those who have never danced Kizomba before\u2014or perhaps have never danced at all. It provides a solid foundation in the dance, covering basic steps and simple patterns.<\/p>\n

The practica is open for any CSDA member and we highly encourage our students to join it as part of the course. Here you have room to practice what you’ve learnt, as well a socialize and make new friends.<\/p>\n
